Electrical Upgrades Building 6414

Location: Moore Air Base – Edinburg, Texas
Client: U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) APHIS

Semper Fidelis Construction & Development performed electrical infrastructure upgrades at Building 6414 at the USDA APHIS facility at Moore Air Base. The building supports research, specimen preservation, and laboratory testing operations, making reliable electrical distribution critical to facility operations. The project focused on replacing aging electrical equipment that had reached the end of its service life and was experiencing deterioration from corrosion, rust, and water intrusion.

Our team furnished and installed a new exterior 2000-amp main switchboard system, complete with a new main breaker and associated electrical components. The project also included provisions for installation of a new transformer and transformer pad, along with the associated conduit connections and electrical integration required to support the facility’s power distribution system. Additional work included installation of a new breaker and automatic transfer switch to integrate with the existing 800kW Caterpillar backup generator.

Following installation and successful power transfer to the new system, the existing electrical cabinet, transformer, wiring, and associated components were safely removed and disposed of. Throughout the project, work was completed in compliance with federal construction standards, local codes, environmental requirements, and USDA facility guidelines. The project also included preconstruction coordination, submittal management, construction phasing planning, safety documentation, and final closeout deliverables including as-built documentation and warranties.
